John Beer

John Beer was an International trampolinist before taking up a coaching career which produced two World and European Individual & Synchronised Champions. He was formerly Technical Director of British  Gymnastics, National Trampoline Coach, and Great Britain coach at two Olympic Games.

Level One qualifies teachers to handle trampolines safely, and to teach basic skills up to, but excluding, somersaults.

 

This qualification is only available to PE teachers (including those trained abroad) and to qualifying students (PGCE, GTP or SCITT). A DfES number is required at registration.  Completion of the award is recognised by LEAs and Governing Bodies as a qualification to teach the relevant skills in schools.

 

All courses are delivered by BG qualified and approved Tutors, and include the governing body’s extensive resource pack

  

Course Content

·         Safe handling of trampolines

·         Safe coaching practices

·         Principles of jump, rotation, twist and shape

·         Jumping, stopping and shaped jumps

·         Half and full twist

·         Seat, hand and knees landings

·         Twisting skills

·         Half twist to front, back feet and seat landings

·         Swivel hips

·         Linking skills
