Prep Schools’ Conference for Directors of Sport

Thursday, 21 June 2018 at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre

National Conference for Directors of Sport in Prep Schools

Welcome to the annual Conference for Directors of Sport in Prep schools.

The landscape of PE and Games in the unique prep sector is changing rapidly. Traditions of compulsory team games for all are under threat, and there is a growing concern to make this subject more relevant and inclusive. There is wide recognition that the quality of the pupil experience at prep school has significant impact on both performance and engagement throughout a child’s school life and beyond. Providing positive experiences and establishing a foundation of physical literacy are the key ingredients in achieving enthusiasm and capabIlity for all pupils.

The Prep sector has a long history of high performance in sport. We are delighted that IAPS is contributing news in its thoughts and plans for the future of competition at these levels. Delegates will be invited to inform this debate by contributing their views. The coaching of games in order to achieve high standards will also be considered.

The afternoon offers a choice of sessions from a range of topical issues. This is intended to allow delegates to pursue issues of particular interest. The day concludes with a discussion forum in which concerns and solutions can be shared in an atmosphere of collaborative networking.

This is an opportunity for forward thinking prep school Directors of Sport to gain awareness of current issues and new approaches to ensure their programmes are modern, inclusive and future proof.
