Protecting the Primacy of Possession with Sue Gaudion

Sue Gaudion returns with an entirely new programme based on winning and maintaining possession.  She will demonstrate the approaches of the top teams in the Suncorp Super Netball Competition, and show how these can be introduced and developed with school age players.  She will conduct two sessions with academy players to illustrate what can be achieved, whilst explaining to coaches the underlying principles.  She will provide an insight into how the world’s best teams approach this crucial dimension of the game.

Session One:

  • Skills for maintaining and restoring possession
  • Establishing desirable behaviours in the ball carrier
  • Building understanding of playing under pressure 

Session Two:

  • Replicating match pressure in the training environment
  • Understanding options under pressure
  • Responding to real and perceived pressure

Sue Gaudion was the Head Coach of the Australian Institute of Sport Netball Programme, achieving extraordinary results with the country’s best young players. She coached West Coast Fever in the ANZ Championships, the world’s premiet Netball Competition.  She was previously Head Coach of Australia Under 21, and of Singapore at the 1999 World Cup. She is now a leading broadcaster and TV commentator on Suncorp Super Netball.

Lessons from the Commonwealth Games with Tracey Neville MBE

This session with draw on the lessons learned during the unprecedented England Gold Medal campaign at the 2018 Commonwealth games.  It will consider the factors leading to success in through court attack in the modern game, and how they can be applied by coaches in training and competition

Sue Gaudion

Sue Gaudion was the Head Coach of the Australian Institute of Sport Netball Programme, achieving extraordinary results with the country’s best young players. Tracey Neville MBE

Tracey Neville was the Head Coach who led England Netball to an unprecedented Gold Medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She previously led the team to Bronze Medal in the 2015 World Cup, and is currently preparing the team for a Quad Series and Fast5 before a home World Cup in 2019. She was previously Head Coach of Manchester Thunder, winning two Superleague titles. She made her England debut as a teenager, winning over 80 caps. This included medals in Commonwealth Games and World Cup. She was awarded the MBE for services to Netball.
