Gymnastics in Schools KS 2 & 3
Dates & Venues
The course aims to develop the teacher's knowledge and understanding of core gymnastic skills, activities and fun games, discussing clear progressions and development of key skills delivered in Key Stage 2 and 3. Through substantial video analysis, this course covers the teaching of all basic gymnastic movements. This includes a constant emphasis on establishing good technique and safe practice.
- Traveling: Stepping, spinning, leaping and cartwheel
- Jumping: With shapes and with turns
- Rolling: Log, egg, side, teddy bear, forward and backward
- Balance: Small/Large body parts, including Headstand and Handstand

Webinar runs from 7 - 8.30pm via zoom. A recording of the webinar will also be sent to everyone on the course and is available to view for 2 working days.
Course Leaders
Gary Kirby
Gary Kirby was a GB international gymnast. He is an International Performance Coach, and has coached medallists in both Olympic Games and World Championships. He was appointed men’s Technical Director at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, and was subsequently Gymnastics Development Officer for Liverpool. He is one of Britain’s leading Gymnastics judges, having officiated at World and European Championships and two Commonwealth Games
