    This is a course for teachers that are new to coaching and umpiring Lacrosse, and for those that are looking to update their knowledge for the modern, 10-a-side game. It is especially suitable for teachers who have joined a Lacrosse-playing school and wish to make a contribution to coaching and umpiring. Participants will develop confidence to deliver modern, high quality coaching sessions, which are suited to younger and less experienced players. The course will also explain rules and signals, to provide a practical introduction to umpiring that will support teachers to be confident in officiating school matches.

    Coaching

    • Coaching fundamental lacrosse skills
    • Tried and tested stick work practices 
    • Basic attacking and defensive principles and shapes
    • Transitioning the ball quickly
    • Foundational shooting technique
    • Developing goalkeepers
    • Match day essentials: line-ups, subbing rotations and team talks

    Umpiring

    • Practical umpiring of school Lacrosse
    • Overview of key major and minor fouls
    • Common fouls in beginner lacrosse
    • Basic positioning for a 2-umpire match
    • Becoming a qualified official through England Lacrosse
    Prices

    1 place £209 + VAT
    2 places £339 + VAT
    3 places £435 + VAT

    Course runs 10am – 3.30pm. Prices include refreshments, lunch and resources. In the event of you needing to cancel a place on a course, please note we require ten working days' notice.

    Course Leaders
    Asha Riley

    Asha Riley (Lacrosse)

    Asha Riley gained over 30 caps as an England Lacrosse player, including touring USA, Australia, and Europe, as well as playing in the 2013 World Cup in Canada. She now coaches at St Swithun's School and works with teams and players of all ability levels. She coached the Berkhamsted 1 Senior team to become National Champions in 2019, Top 4 in 2020 and Runners Up in the 2022 competition. She is a forward-thinking coach with an infectious passion for the game and for developing young players.
