How video analysis is helping schools sports and why it is important
What is Veo?
At Veo, our goal is to help every student, educator, coach and school to improve their engagement, enjoyment and understanding of sport both in and outside of the curriculum. Veo cameras automatically record sport and include a state-of-the-art analysis platform, powered by artificial intelligence.
How can Veo Help schools?
Recording school sport until recent years has been an unenviable task. Prior to Veo you would need an elevated platform, an expensive camera, and a skilled camera operator who must stay focused throughout the entire game. After a match or training session, a member of staff would cut and edit videos, and schools would require a hard drive with space for numerous full recordings of matches. Veo’s plug and play solution and password protected platform means that all of these steps and challenges are removed making way for a higher quality consistent way educators and students can work with video analysis.
Veo’s Team and/or Enterprise subscription allows for different School sports and matches to be organised into individual folders i.e. based on the varying sports, age groups and squad level within each year group. This helps educators to not only organise and manage their footage better, but also it enables one Veo camera to be shared across various different educators/coaches without confusion of footage.
How can Veo help Students?
Students can be provided password protected log-ins to the Veo Editor platform therefore are able to analyse and work in their own time. Educators or coaches can also present the game or training session in a classroom environment so that they work with their players as a group.
This enables students to maintain deeper learning of self analysis and focus on particular aspects of their personal and team play away from the emotional environment of being on the pitch. Having the ability to retrospectively understand where improvements can be made and also where a student has done well, is invaluable in young player’s development in sport.
There is also a huge enjoyment factor at play here - Veo gives everyone that opportunity to watch their game back, clip those goals/tries that parents might miss if they couldn’t make the game.
Students love to watch themselves back, create highlights and create a discussion around their game. Veo is also a useful tool and opportunity for students and teachers to have in order to flip the learning and lead the session...
Veo is also used to showcase students, it has become both a useful tool and platform in the schools scholarship programme - it enables students to get in front of scouts in the US and out there to the world without the need to travel.

How can Veo help Educators/Sports Staff?
We want to not only develop students through helping with their analysis, but this also comes with taking the workload off teachers, parents and coaches. The Veo equipment can be lent to students so that they can record their Physical Education GCSE and A-Level sport in their own time. It requires just setting up the camera, pressing play on a phone and the whole game can be recorded without anyone else required. The student can later upload the footage, analyse their game using the analytics platform; draw on screen, great highlights and comment on their performance, which can then be sent directly to their teacher or coach to assess.
Coaches also use Veo for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), to observe back on their coaching sessions and ensure that coaches are aligning with the curriculum. Veo has also been used for internal CPD to share with new coaches that want to come in and learn from other coaches.
