British Gymnastics Teachers' Award for Trampolining Level One

    This Award is accepted as the industry standard qualification for teaching Trampolining in schools. It is only available to PE teachers (including those trained abroad) and to qualifying students. A DfES number is required at registration. Completion of the Award is widely recognised as qualification to teach the relevant skills in schools. Level One qualifies teachers to handle trampolines safely, and to teach basic skills up to, but excluding, somersaults. All courses are delivered by British Gymnastics qualified and approved Tutors and include certification and the Governing Body’s extensive resource pack. 

    Programme

    • Safe handling of trampolines
    • Safe coaching practices
    • Principles of jump, rotation, twist and shape
    • Jumping, stopping and shaped jumps
    • Half and full twist
    • Seat, hand and knees landings
    • Twisting skills
    • Half twist to front, back feet and seat landings
    • Swivel hips
    • Linking skills

    The course in June at Salford Trampoline Centre will be taught by Steve Moreton.

    The course in November at Guildford Spectrum will be taught by John Wotherspoon.

    Prices

    2 day course £349 + VAT 
     

    Course runs 9.00am – 3/3.30pm each day. Price includes British Gymnastics resource pack and certification, lunch and refreshments. Note that a 50% deposit is payable on booking of a two day Gymnastics or trampolining course, and 4 weeks’ notice is required for cancellation.

    Course Leaders

    John Wotherspoon

    John is a British Gymnastics high performance coach with over 40 years experience coaching to National and International Level. He's a BG tutor and assessor with 30 years experience. John is a former Physical Education Teacher, Headteacher and Assistant Director of Education for a London Authority.
