    This is a course for teachers involved in delivering rugby coaching, and refereeing matches and practices for the first time. It will also provide a refresher for teachers whose involvement in the game has been interrupted by the pandemic. It focuses on the practicalities of organising a coaching session, and introduces a range of techniques and ways to practice them. The emphasis is on modern techniques and simple, imaginative practices. Including key laws and managing the game and sideline parents.

    COACHING

    • The contact area and ways to practise it
    • Safe scrummaging
    • Designing practices quickly that match your needs and your team's needs
    • Engaging players of all abilities in the session

    REFEREEING

    • Applying the law in school matches
    • Ensuring safe procedures at scrum and ruck
    • Managing the game through communication
    • When and why to blow the whistle – and when not to

    Webinar runs from 7 -8.30pm via zoom. The webinar will be recorded and this will be available to view for 2 working days afterwards.
