National Conference for Heads of Cricket in Schools
at Pelham's, Lord’s Cricket Ground
Dates & Venues
Welcome to the National Conference for Heads of Cricket in schools. It is many years since there was an opportunity to get everyone involved together at a national level, and much is now different in the environment of school Cricket.
At a time when the boys’ game is under pressure, yet the girls’ game is growing, the place of Cricket is changing. The way that Heads of Cricket operate is having to adjust to accommodate this, and to address new challenges. The landscape of school Cricket has shifted forever: new programmes, and solutions, are still developing.
The HMC Sport Committee is seeking to support the game in its schools, and has appointed Mark Semmence – himself a former Head of Cricket – to lead this process. His Conference Keynote will indicate the challenges which lie ahead, including details of his communications with ECB and MCC. It will also outline opportunities for schools to become involved in national initiatives. In addition to other leading speakers, there will be a discussion Forum, allowing an opportunity for Heads of Cricket to share views and experiences with MCC and others to understand the place of the game in the national context. This will also be a chance to see how other schools are addressing common issues.
In addition to the formal agenda, there will be the opportunity to network with others from around the country, all within the historic environment of Lord’s Cricket Ground.
